Trip to the park

Chuck and I took Banks to a local park on Sunday to take him for a ride on a train they have there for kids that's a miniature replica steam engine. It sounded so great until we got there and there was a huge TRAIN CLOSED sign on the train station with no train in sight, not even a conductor. The schedule said Sundays from 1-6. We waited and waited and no one arrived so we took Banks over to his beloved "bucket swing" to salvage some sort of purpose for driving 20 mins only to swing on a swing that we could have done at the park 2 blocks from our house. Anyways, he loved it and as usual whined when we took him out. We'll try the train again this weekend!

Maybe the conductor was soooo sad about the Gamecock loss that he couldn't muster the strength to get out of bed :)

Just Beachin' It!

The annual Stanton Family Beach Trip was last week. It was Banks' first trip to the sunny seaside. Chuck wasn't able to go (due to work) so Banks, Mimi and I loaded up the van and headed to the coast. My Dad had the pleasure of traveling all alone with nothing but the sounds of talk radio blasting from the speakers. My mom and I, on the other hand, listened to 'Wow, Wow, Wubbzy!' blaring from the dvd player for 4 hours. Thankfully, Banks barely made a peep the whole trip - thanks to the modern miracle of a car dvd player and Gerber snacks.

This is what Banks looked like the first time he encountered the sand. I was really thinking that Banks would just jump out of my arms and onto the beach just ready to enjoy the sand - UM NO - that didn't happen.

Thankfully he warmed up to the idea that we were going to be there a week and that the sand wasn't going anywhere...

We all had a great week, except for the fact that all the little ones and some of the adults got sick with the cough and cold mid-week. But that didn't stop us ALL (including the infants) from chilling in the hot tub. And let's not forget that Banks decided to start his "separation anxiety" phase the minute we arrived. In other words, he wouldn't let ANYONE else hold him nor would he allow me to leave the room without screaming. Needless to say, I need a vacation from my vacation.

Can't wait for next year!!
Thanks Mimi and G - we had a blast :)
