Yesterday, Mimi and Gee kept Banks and Chuck and I got the day off (loved it). As always, he had so much fun with them! Although, the outfit i packed for him (not pictured here - he didn't need it after all) just happened to be orange (oops, we know how they feel about Clemson tiger orange). Luckily, i also packed the Gamecocks baseball cap. Here are some pics.

6 months (and a few days)

Ok. so i have been trying to create a new "look" for banks' blog for his 6 month birthday. i am really anal and it takes me forever to come up with a "look" which is why i am, obviously, a few days past his 6 month posting. but, better late than never - hope you like it.

things are as crazy as always here at the "Heathen Hipshers".
here's an update on my banksy baby:
-you are a little over 6 months old and acting like you are 8 months
-you weigh 18 lbs and are 27.5 inches long - have mercy i am harboring a giant
-you have one tooth - the bottom middle left (it is there for those who are thinking - um hello where is it)

-you love to stand up
-you love, love, love the remote controls - i guess that starts at an early age for males
-you are wearing size 3 diapers

-you are trying so desperately to crawl, sticking your butt up in the air and rubbing your face into the ground - oh how close you are, it's so sad, because you get sooooo mad
-you love going on walks with mommy and daddy in the morning

-you want it your way all the time

-you aren't squealing as much but are attempting to say ba ba and ya ya
-you are trying to eat the "puffs" graduates thingys but once you pick them up they are getting stuck to your palms and you dont seem to care about them anymore
-you are mommy's best buddy - she even has a huge scratch on her face to prove it - and she loves every minute of it :)



You are the biggest blessing in our lives and we love you dearly :)

Monster Baby (he was born on halloween)

The last couple of days Banks has started these screeching sounds, it's the strangest thing. He sounds like a monster. So i decided to capture it so y'all could get a sense of what I am talking about. It's hilarious.

look who's sitting up

Banks is now starting to sit on his own. Not well enough for us to leave the room without wondering if he'll topple over onto the back of his head, but he's doing great. He's so cute and i think he thinks he's a "big boy" when he sits up. He's also grabbing and reaching for everything - your food, what you are drinking, my hair (he can't reach for chuck's haha), all his toys, and last but not least his "area" (especially when i am changing his poopy diaper). He's napping twice a day for 1.5 to 2.5 hrs (usually). And is just a joy to be around. Here are some cute pics i took of him sitting up.

Hopefully someone out there will think he looks like me at some point (or i guess i am just dreaming).

Ignore the boppy - he really can sit on his own, that's just "safety" Chuck putting it behind him :)

sippy cups and a visit from the in-laws

Banks tried out his new sippy cup for the first time today. he was so cute grabbing the handles and putting it straight into his mouth. i am going to avoid apple juice and go with water. i just don't want him getting used to sugary juices when water is way better for you. he doesn't really drink it yet but i just wanted him to get used to the cup.





Chuck's mom and dad came for a visit last week. it was lots of fun! we went downtown and played cards and dominoes and they got a chance to see some waterfalls and mountains. it's hard when you have an infant, you are definitely limited as to how long you are away from the house, so i hope they weren't too bored. we enjoyed having the company and getting to see them since they live all the way in Iowa. here's the ONE picture i took. mostly because he's going through the phase where he get's fussy if someone else holds him. so i didn't want to flood y'all with pics of me holding him - boring!!! Memaw took a few more, so when she sends them i will add them to my blog. in the meantime this is Banks with Bopa.

Bath time

Banks loves his new bathtub and so do we. It's so much easier than bathing him in the sink. I think it makes him feel like a "big boy". He's also starting to sit up on his own. FUN!!! Here are some cute pics of him in the tub.

Happy Easter!

We met Mimi and G-Daddy today for Easter lunch. They brought us an Easter basket and Banks a couple of things including this precious bathtub. He loves it!!! I can't wait to try it out because we needed to retire the plastic tub you put in the sink (because Banks likes to kick so much in the bath there's like a gallon of water on my kitchen floor every night).

hodge podge of things

oh, banks! you are so hilarious these days - despite teething - you are just as precious as ever. here's what you are up to lately:

• rolling, rolling and more rolling
• you are teething and mommy thinks its just so sad when your little mouth is hurting
  
• you try to swallow your hands, and anything else you can get into your mouth
• you pull your feet up to your mouth
• you are lifting your chest trying to sit-up
• you insist on being picked up if we are near you - grunting while your arms are in the air
• you behave like an angel
• you enjoy your Raffi CD in the car - although daddy is ready to drive off the road when its being played
• you love to watch The Backyardigans - when the intro song comes on you wave your hands in the air
• you love peas and carrots - i dont particularly love it when i see them in your diaper the next morning
  
• you are very observant of everything around you
• you love to sleep on your stomach
• you rest your head on mommy's chest when you are sleepy (something mommy LOVES)
• you laugh so loud and show off your gummy grin - sweetest thing ever
• you nap in your swing during the day and go to bed at 7:00
• you are the most wonderful thing in our lives - it's hard to imagine we ever lived without you

We are so thankful to have such a wonderful blessing in our lives. Lately it seems i read so many blogs of families who have children with cancer, heart problems and children who have passed away. It is just so sad. It really makes you realize that when your child is crying or won't fall back asleep how lucky you are to even be able to hear that and be with him. What a blessing!!!!

i wear my sunglasses at night

i just wanted to show y'all banks' new hat and sunglasses. i liked the clemson tigers hat but i knew mimi and g-daddy would have none of that soooo, we went with the gamecocks. the weather has been so nice lately that we have been trying to take banks out in the jog stroller as often as we can. everytime we take him out the sun is always in his face. so we decided to get him a hat and some sunglasses. i'll let you know if it works!!!!
